TASTE OF BUSINESS
Corkscrew Events are very proud to have been asked to be involved in Taste of Business, sponsored by Brindleyplace and organised by Marketing Birmingham. It was the opening night for Taste of Birmingham, with free admission exclusively for members of the business community. Corkscrew Events added Speed Networking to an already exciting line-up of chefs, bars and hospitality.
Dave Hodgson, Marketing Director at Marketing Birmingham, says: “Introducing yourself to perfect strangers isn’t an easy thing to do and it takes a lot of practice before you become really comfortable with it. But networking really is an essential skill in business and can open a lot of doors. There’s also a social side to it and Taste of Business will be very much about socializing and enjoying yourself while networking, giving a new definition to social networking.”
Taste of Business provided the perfect opportunity to practice networking skills with up to 2,000 of Birmingham’s business community. Speed Networking was very well received, over 300 businesses signed up for the “chance to experience the latest in contact swapping for time poor professionals” (Charlotte Beeching, External Affairs Manager, Marketing Birmingham).
It was a great start to a great festival. Birmingham has become the first city to take over the management of its Taste festival, through a franchise agreement between its London-based owner Brand Events and Marketing Birmingham. The deal is claimed as significant, with the aim of moving the four day food and drink festival on to become a celebration of local talent and produce, working to raise the profile of restaurants, bars, hotels and food and drink producers across the region at a time when business is tough.
Taste of Business marked the beginning of a new partnership for Corkscrew Events as they have recently become a Champion for Marketing Birmingham. Birmingham-born Mark Linton, Managing Director of Corkscrew Events says: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support the local economy by promoting the city on our travels around the country. Birmingham has a lot to offer and I like to make sure more people know that!”.
If you were one of the unlucky people who missed out on Speed Networking at Taste of Business then come along to The Business Growth Show Midlands on the 10th September.
